If your app has widgets, from Android Oreo you can make it very easy for the users to discover and add your widgets directly from your app. Same for app shortcuts as well. This can potential increase the engagement with your app, so worth doing, especially if your app already has widgets and users struggle to find them! Default way of adding widgets is just not that obvious.
